Why does start count matter to a buyer?

Refill obligations are computed against start count plus delivered, not against your account’s current number. That single fact resolves most refill disputes. If you started at 3,572 followers and ordered 1,000, the panel owes you a position of 4,572 — and organic followers gained meanwhile are not part of the calculation.

The consequence is a rule worth following without exception: never run two overlapping orders on the same link. When a second order records a start count that already includes the first order’s partial delivery, neither order has a clean baseline, and panels routinely void both refill claims for exactly that reason.

How does start count show up in a price list?

You see it in the order detail on the panel and in the start_count field of the API status response. It is recorded once, at dispatch, and never updated.

It also explains apparent under-delivery. If a purge removes units while an order is still running, the delivered count can look correct against start count while your visible total has not moved.
