Why does remains matter to a buyer?
Remains is the most useful number on the status response because it converts a vague sense that something is wrong into an amount. A large remains figure that has not moved for hours means the upstream source has stalled, not that delivery is merely slow.
It is also the field to record before contacting support. Panels reconcile against their own logs, so a dispute naming the order ID, the start count and the remains at a specific time is answerable; a dispute saying the order did not work is not.
How does remains show up in a price list?
It appears as a column in the orders table and as remains in the API status response, alongside charge and start_count.
On a drip-feed order, remains counts total undelivered units across all runs rather than the current run, which is why it can look alarmingly large mid-schedule on an order that is behaving correctly.
