Website traffic

Why does website traffic matter to a buyer?
The category is bigger than most buyers realise — 412 traffic listings across seven panels in the sampled set, with referral traffic alone accounting for 2,310 rows because panels sell one SKU per country-and-referrer pair (PanelCompare domain research, 2026-09-06). It is marketed as an SEO signal, and the ranking effect is unproven to negative: Google has repeatedly stated that it discounts click-through manipulation of this kind.
The reliable harm is to your own measurement. Synthetic visits enter Analytics, contaminate conversion rates, and flow into ad-platform audiences and lookalike models, which then spend real budget on people modelled from bots. Panels even split direct traffic into “high bounce” and “lower bounce” variants at the same price, which is a fair indication of how synthetic the behaviour model underneath is.
How does website traffic show up in a price list?
It uses the Web Traffic order type in the API, taking quantity, country, device, type_of_traffic and either a google_keyword or a referring_url — the only order type in the specification with a country parameter of its own.
The premium tier is residential rather than datacentre: residential unique visitors run $4.90–$6.30 per thousand against a $0.10–$0.14 floor for worldwide bot traffic, roughly 10–40× (PanelCompare domain research, 2026-09-06). One row sold as “AdSense safe, genuine real people from app” at $2.00 is a direct ad-fraud exposure for the buyer rather than a feature.
| Type | Observed band | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Direct / no-referrer | $0.14–$0.98 | Cheapest; no referrer set |
| Worldwide | $0.14–$1.00 | Untargeted baseline |
| Referral / social | $0.15–$1.80 | Referrer spoofed to a named platform |
| Search / keyword | $0.28–$4.00 | Arrives via a search for a keyword you supply |
| Geo-targeted | $0.28–$3.63 | Country, and often device, controlled |
| Residential / real-visitor | $0.45–$6.30 | Residential IPs and modelled dwell behaviour |
| AI-referrer | about $1.00 | Referrer spoofed to an AI engine |

Think this definition is wrong?
Terminology in this market is set by the panels that use it, and it moves. If a panel uses website traffic to mean something other than what is written here, send us the listing and we will either correct the definition or record the variant. The process is on the about page.
